Wildcats heading to Mt. Sac Relays

OGDEN, Utah The Weber State men's and women's track and field teams will head to sunny California looking to move up in the regional rankings. The rest of the team will head to Mark Faldmo Invitational in Logan on Friday and Saturday. lt;br />"We have athletes that will be competing at three different meets in California. The athletes that are going to California have or are close to making the NCAA first round," Director of track and field Dan Walker said. "We wanted to give them an opportunity to compete against great competition and help prepare them to run in different environments. The rest of us will be competing at Utah State and we will have some athletes that won't be competing this week so that they have the opportunity to train harder." lt;br />The Wildcats will enter the weekend with a total of 27 Big Sky qualifying marks which is the sixth most in the conference. 18 of those marks are on the men's side with the other 9 on the women's team. lt;br /> lt;br />Mt. Sac Relays/Brian Clay Invitational lt;br />Trevor Ricks and Tip Worob will compete in the 3,000 meter steeplechase against some of the best competition in the nation. Ricks enters the weekend with t he 14th fastest time in the West Region, 8:55.81, while Worob sits in 37th in a time of 9:08.48. lt;br />Mike Hardy and Preston Johnson will run the 5,000 meters. Hardy has personal-best time of 14:03.34, which is the third-fastest time in school history. The dynamic duo of Isaac Akers and Dustin Durfee will look to improve in the 400-meter hurdles. Akers is ranked 60th in the region while Durfee is 67th. The top 48 athletes will run at the NCAA First Round in Austin, Texas on May 28-30. lt;br />Emily Morgan is coming off one of the best performances by any freshmen in recent history after running 11.75 in the 100-meters. It was the second time in her career that she had broke 12 seconds in that event. Tawnie Moore's time of 14.03 in the 110-meter hurdl
