Wildcats head to Robison Invitational

OGDEN, Utah With the conference meet less than a month away, the Weber State men's and women's track and field program will look to move their way up the Big Sky rankings. The team will head down to Brigham Young University to take part in Robison Invitational on Friday and Saturday. lt;br />The Wildcats currently have 31 Big Sky qualifying marks, 18 for the men and 13 for the women. lt;br />"Practices have been going really well and our athletes have been getting better," Director of track and field Dan Walker said. "We are getting more qualifiers and more athletes into the top 20 on the conference performance list. We have three more meets to keep moving up those lists. Everyone that is healthy will be competing this week and it will be nice to have everyone at the same meet." lt;br /> lt;br />On the women's side, Jamie Stokes will battle Kate Nicholls of Idaho State in the mile run. Nicholls edged Stokes in their first meeting in the outdoor season at the Wildcat Open in the 1,500 meters. Ashley Kealamakia will look to pick up an automatic qualifying time in the 800-meters. lt;br />Emily Morgan and Chandler Weitzeil will run both the 100 and 200-meter dash. Amanda Alston, Katherine Wishmeyer and Alexandria Van Halder will also run in the 200-meters. lt;br />Jazmin Porter will look to return to form in the discus and hammer throw. Porter will be joined by Natasha Powell in the hammer throw. Lana Willard will look to improve on her debut performance last week in the long jump. lt;br /> lt;br />On the men's side, Trevor Ricks, Joe Maloney and Brett Lechtenberg will see stiff competition in the mile that includes 4:00 miler Mike Tate of Southern Utah University. Tip Worob and Tyler Robinson will both run the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Robinson will enter the meet with the ninth-fastest time in the conference. lt;br />Dustin Durfee, Isaac Akers and Tony Osheku Jr. will all run in the 400-meter dash.
