Akers named Big Sky Athlete of the Week

OGDEN, Utah Weber State's Isaac Akers was selected as the Big Sky men's track athlete of the week, the conference announced Tuesday. lt;br />Akers, a senior from Ferndale, Washington, took third in the 400-meter hurdles at the BYU Robison Invitational in a time of 53.33. He ran a seasonal-best time of 52.22 in the preliminary heats on Friday. That time ranks third in the Big Sky and 44th in the West Region. lt;br />Akers is a three-time Big Sky All-Conference performer in indoor and outdoor track. This is his first ever AOTW honor. In 2013, he ran the fifth-fastest 400-meter hurdle time in school history, 51.54. lt;br />The other winners were Sacramento State's Chloe Berlioux, Eastern Washington's Jordan Arakawa and Northern Arizona's Brooke Anderson.
